“I want the folks in the future to know that we loved them on purpose, that we cared deeply for them, that our choices were intentional,” Green shares.
“Harriet's Wildest Dreams is saying, ‘Our people deserve better.’ We actually want to stop and prevent harm, not just show up afterward.
One of our young people — they're doing court watch, they're out in community canvassing, asking people about what safety means for them. They're fully entrenched on the freedom train. This young boy went home to his parents and they reached out to me and said, ‘He came home today and said, “I feel like I have a purpose now.”' For me, I cried. I'm not even going to lie. To be a young Black boy growing up in D.C., and to feel you have a purpose and that purpose is helping your people get free, that's enough for me to jump up for joy.”
