1ME Curriculum: Political Education for Youth & Community Programs
Do you know someone doing youth programming this summer? Send this curriculum to them today! The 1ME Curriculum compiles decades’ worth of abolitionist activities, units, and teaching resources from our parent organizations Project Nia and Interrupting Criminalization, as well as collaborators in their ongoing series, Building Your Abolitionist Toolbox. The 95-page resource was created for youth educators and organizers, but it is a great tool for any group who wants to start conversations around core abolitionist concepts. You do not have to be a seasoned abolitionist, organizer, or educator to use this resource.
Bonus: Explore the companion Padlet to quick start your political education space.
Watch The 1ME Film
Through long-form interviews with movement workers across the world, the 1ME film expands our ideas about what keeps us safe and celebrates the transformative work that is already happening all around us. Our podcast partners Kiss and Dame at Respair Media created this beautiful short film with the talented folks at SoapBox Productions and you can now watch it on Apple TV and YouTube TV. Clocking in at 30 minutes, it’s a great discussion piece for community groups, classrooms, and pods.
Making A Plan Zine
We kicked this year off with the “Making a Plan” zine, a tool for the people who are joining or reconnecting to movement spaces and want to organize their thoughts and…make a plan! Summertime is a great time to explore this workbook/zine by Mariame Kaba. Bridge the gap between information and action: dive into an experiment today.
